Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing manual services on several different types of track works, including:
· Adjusting, replacing and installing conductor rails
· Maintaining, removing, replacing and installing joints
· Track re-aligning
· Lifting and replacing points and crossings
· Shovel and kango packing
· Digging out and reballasting
· Spot sleepering
· Refurbishing or plugging holes in wooden sleepers
· Replacing keys and clips

Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be committed to completing an Level 2 Rail Engineering Operative Apprenticeship Standard with a view to further developing their career with and undertake the Rail Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Track Engineering. To be successful in the role he /she will need good communication skills both written and verbal in order to excel.
· Ability to work well as a team with all members of the company
· Physically fit to meet the physical demands of working on track
· Willingness to work nights or days depending on projects. Some weekend work maybe required due to the nature of our 24/7-365 day operations.
· Good communication and presentation skills
· Good people skills to work across a diverse multi-ethnic
· To be professional and present a positive and keen image at all times
· Fulfil time keeping and attendance expectations

NVQ course in general:
· You will attend our I.T.S training center each month for a week throughout the year to study the underpinning knowledge and technical qualifications embedded within the apprenticeship programme.
