Cleshar is the largest provider of protection services to London Underground and we have been supplying protection staff on the network for over 20 years
WORKING IN STRICT ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR TRACK SAFETY REQUIREMENTS, WE PROVIDE LONDON UNDERGROUND, NETWORK RAIL AND OUR OTHER RAIL CLIENTS WITH ROUND-THE-CLOCK MULTI-SKILLED SAFETY CRITICAL RESOURCES, INCLUDING OUR SPECIALIST PROTECTION STAFF.
We deploy over 400 safety critical staff, including Possession Masters/Controllers, Train Masters and Protecting Workers on the Track trained individuals (PWTs), on the London Underground network daily, ensuring safe access and safe systems of working both for our own operatives and external teams. Our protection team includes those trained in performing PWT duties during engineering and traffic hours, many of whom are dual certificated. All our PWTs hold Site Person in Charge competency. We are also often called on to provide Handback Engineers to support our clients’ works.
Safe practice on Network Rail’s infrastructure is overseen by our expert team of Persons in Charge, Protection Controllers, Safe Work Leaders, Controllers of Site Safety, Engineering Supervisors and Site Wardens. Our Safe Work Packs detail how works are to be carried out safely and how task, site and operational risks are to be managed and controlled. We also supply operatives who hold DC electrified line competence, both in switching and strapping, and those with Negative Short-Circuiting Devices certification to provide protection during isolations. On our East London Line IMC2 contract, we also supply individuals trained to fulfil the role of Person in Charge of Possession. Other competencies required by Network Rail and provided by Cleshar include Machine and Crane Controllers, Level Crossing Attendants and Points Operators.
Our in-house training provider, Infrastructure Training Services, delivers all our safety critical training and competence assessments, enabling us to organise courses at short notice and to maintain a constant and dependable service for our clients.
Clients also benefit from the services of Cleshar’s central Hub which operates 24/7, 365 days/year and, managed by our support team, facilitates the booking, planning and allocation of safety critical staff, including responding to any reactive or emergency requirements for protection and possession resource.
