Our skillset in signalling technology includes the installation of Train Protection and Warning Systems, Solid State Interlocking (SSI) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based control systems, train detection and axle counter devices and signalling power supply upgrades. Cleshar has also managed the construction of signalling equipment rooms for specialist rail signalling providers.
Since award of the East London Line (ELL) IMC2 contract, our dedicated signalling team has completed works to over 4500 separate signal assets, working in close collaboration with systems’ design specialists, manufacturers, and independent testers. Together, we have helped the ELL to become one of the best performing railways in the country.
Our telecoms experts provide communications solutions across the different system technologies and rail environments, including CCTV installation, customer/station information security and PA systems, GSM-R antenna enhancements, tunnel telephone maintenance and upgrades, and cable installations. As part of our Cable Route Management System contract, we installed power, telecoms and communication cables on the Metropolitan, Hammersmith and City and District lines (the Four Line Modernisation Programme), all of which are integral to the running of the London Underground network, and which account for 40% of all passenger traffic.
Project delivery includes detailed surveys, preparatory site clearance and groundworks to make ready for duct and cable route installation, under track crossings, cabinets and associated trackside equipment, and testing and commissioning and, in combination with our other services – civils, track, M&E and power systems – we are able to offer our clients a fully integrated turnkey approach.
