Quantity Surveyor

We are recruiting for an aspiring Quantity Surveyor!

Location: Ashford, Kent

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Responsibilities

As a Quantity Surveyor you will…

· Prepare monthly, interim, and final valuations, payment applications, reconciliations, and cost assessments for contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialists.

· Manage the commercial team and support tender preparation.

· Produce timely and accurate valuations, cost forecasts, and cash flows, ensuring financial control of contract variations.

· Maintain strong client relationships, representing the company at relevant meetings.

· Procure and place subcontract work packages in line with the procurement schedule.

· Review all contract documents for accuracy, risks, and compliance, ensuring they reflect the work undertaken.

· Measure works on site, negotiate valuations with client representatives, and attend progress meetings as required.

· Work with project teams to record and communicate delays, protecting the company’s contractual position.

· Liaise with internal departments to ensure prompt receipt and issue of payments.

· Safeguard company, client, and personnel property, information, and documentation.

· Select and assess subcontractors in line with CCS Management System and Quality/Safety requirements.

· Handle operational liaison with clients and subcontractors and issue relevant documentation.

· Undertake any additional duties requested by the line manager.

Health, Safety & Data Requirements

· Comply with all company safety policies and be fully familiar with the safety requirements of your role.

· Communicate and support the implementation of safety initiatives, attending required client/company safety briefings and ensuring team attendance where applicable.

· Adhere to Working Time Directive (WTD) requirements.

· Identify your department’s GDPR Lead, follow all GDPR policies and good data-handling practices, and promptly report any suspected data breaches to the GDPR Lead or Head of HR.

Essential Qualifications

· Experience in a quantity surveying role

· Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent

· Good organisational skills

· Understanding business contract requirements

· Ability to maintain a professional image at all times when representing the company

· Strong team player

· Rail Maintenance experience

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience with compilation of CDM documentation

Knowledge of Network Rail Standards
